About
Two decades between strategy and shipped software, most of it contracting, from Brisbane. Platform engineering and AI is where the work sits now.
Three of the longer engagements went the same way: I came in for one scope and left having held three. Agile coach, then head of platform, then product owner. Iteration manager, then scrum master, then technical product manager. Solution and design lead, then director of product management.
The work splits four ways. Agile coaching and delivery. Platform engineering and DevOps: pipelines as a service, infrastructure as code, observability, and more recently AI-assisted engineering workflows. Product management, usually standing up the practice, the tooling and the team from nothing. And strategy, architecture and portfolio work — target operating models, business reference models, lean portfolio management.
Certifications: DASA DevOps Coach, Certified LeSS Practitioner, ICAgile Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC), SAFe 6 DevOps Practitioner, SAFe 6 Lean Portfolio Manager, Advanced Product Manager, Applied Business Architecture, and AWS Solutions Architect (Associate). CNCF OpenTelemetry Certified Associate is in progress.
The aim in each is the same: a team and a platform that still work after the contract ends.
This site is where the longer arguments go: what broke, what was tried first, and what it cost. It is not a CV and none of it is a case study. No employer or client is named anywhere on it, including in the posts, which is a rule in the repository rather than a habit. How the posts get written, and what the site is built from, is on the colophon.
